GSDRC is a partnership of research institutes, think-tanks and consultancy organisations with expertise in governance, social development, humanitarian and conflict issues. We provide bespoke research and consultancy services in addition to the regularly updated information resources available on this website.

The GSDRC team has been providing high quality knowledge services to international development agencies for over a decade. Among our clients are the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the Australian Government, the European Commission, the OECD, the World Bank, and UNDP.

Research helpdesk: The GSDRC’s flagship service since 2001 has been its research helpdesk service, providing rapid responses to specific research questions from national and international development agencies. More in-depth research services are also available and have resulted in a range of knowledge products including literature reviews, topic guides, and conflict analyses.

Professional development: The GSDRC has undertaken a range of professional development activities, mostly for FCDO staff. Some of the resources produced as part of these efforts include reading packs, Covid-19, Conflict, and Governance Evidence Summaries, and a series of webinars diverse topics.

All of the GSDRC’s research and information services are accessible to any organisation working in international development, including governments, donors, NGOs, consulting firms, and research organisations. The web-based information services are provided free to everyone, while research services operate on a fee-for-service basis. Please contact us using our contact form to discuss your research needs.
