The 2012 Education for All Global Monitoring Report examines how skills development programmes can be improved to boost young people’s opportunities for decent jobs and better lives. This report evaluates progress towards the six education for all (EFA) goals, and shows that progress towards many of the goals is slowing down.
Most EFA goals are unlikely to be met by 2015. However, progress in some of the world’s poorest countries shows what can be achieved with the commitment of national governments and aid donors, including greater numbers of children attending pre-school, completing primary school and making the transition to secondary education. Lessons need to be drawn from the EFA goals to inform the definition of future education goals and the design of mechanisms to make sure that all partners live up to their promises.
